Maintaining a lawn or garden full of trees is quite a hectic task. Unlike the bushes, you can’t just put a control on the growth of the branches and limbs of a tree.
Result? Often you have to take your gears and gadgets out to cut down either an entire tree limb or a specific part of it. Maybe, it’s got over your house or grew to an unexpected direction or anything else. But the verdict is, you have to cut it down anyway.
However, in this article, we’re not directly pointing at cutting them down entirely. Instead, we’ll be taking you through a process on how to rope down a tree limb with minimal effort.

The reason why the process of how to rope down a tree limb needs to be discussed thoroughly is the risk associated with it. From the ground, a tree limb might look tiny and non-hazardous. Also, you can’t assess the full mass of a particular tree branch from the ground.
For this reason, the amount of force an individual tree branch can come up with on the ground is quite uncertain. In some cases, it might cause severe destruction to anything that is on it’s way to the ground. In case it’s your house or any construction underneath the tree branch, the danger is even more.

Let’s begin with the steps- To Rope Down a Tree Limb
Step 1: Reach the tree branch with a ladder
Firstly, you have to access the tree branch manually. If the branch is low enough to reach it without any support, then it’s fine. Otherwise, you might need to use a support system like a ladder or so.
Once you get the ladder, secure itself with a proper position, and let a man support your ladder at the ground. While you’re on the top of the ladder, keep the coiled rope with you. You will be needing that in the very next step.

Step 2: Trim Down the small Branches
At this stage, you need to use a pruning saw to trim down the smaller-sized branches. Instead of a pruning saw, you can also use other general trimming tools like gas pole saws or cordless pole saws. But the efficiency of a pruning saw is way more than others.
Make sure that there is a minimum number of branches available in order to make the fall of the larger branch smooth enough.

Step 3: Make a Slipknot with the rope
This is the most crucial step as long as the accuracy and effectiveness of the whole process is concerned. At this stage, you have to make a slipknot kind of loop on one side of the rope. Once done, drape over the tighter part of the rope to the branch that you want to fall down.
While placing the rope on the tree branch, make sure that you have ensured a firm position. Otherwise, the falling direction might be different than what you wanted.
Step 4: Haul the strong line
Take the other part of the rope(which is free), and take it over the tight circle. You might have to haul the strong line for making the loop happen.
In case the weight of the tree branch is too much, you need to make a coil with the rope so that it can undergo the massive weight when the branch falls down.
Step 5: Robust the Limb
Once you are done with putting the first limb, it’s time to put another. The reason why it’s called so is, it’s wrapped around the tree limb that we are dealing with throughout the process.
Once you are done with tossing the rope circles, make sure that it’s the free end is facing downwards. In case it’s essential, wrap the rope around 2 or 3 more tree limbs to make the bonding strong enough.
Step 6: Fall the Tree Branch Down
Now, this is the final step where you have to create some tension around the tree limb to create enough force to bring the tree limb down.
Before this step, get down on the ground and put the ladder away. To apply tension force on the tree, you need to keep the rod. Gradually, the tree branch falls down without causing any severe accident.
